Defining Citation
 A citation is a reference to the source of information used in one’s written work.
 In academic writing source, is important skill one must learn this does not only prove one’s honesty, but also
gives glimpse of how piece of a written work was constructed.

Avoid plagiarism and maintain credibility.
Acknowledge the work of other.
Provide credibility to your work and place your work in context.
Helps future research easily locate sources.
Different types of citation

APA- American Psychological Association
- This citation is used for Humanities, like English, History or dram
Example:
(Field, 2005)

MLA- Modern Language Association.
-
MLA in-text citations include only the author name and page number (Taylor 23).
This is used for social Science, like psychology, education and sociology.
Example.
Romantic poetry is characterized by the “spontaneous
over flow of feelings” (Wordsworth 263).
Print Media

Newspapers- Authors last name, First Name, “Title of the News Article” Name of
the Newspaper, day month year, page.
Example: Steinhauer, Jennifer. “California Water Law Curtailing New Development.” New


Bibliography- Authors last name, First name, Title of the book (edition): Subtitle.
Place of publication. Name of publisher. Year of Publication.
