Prepare concrete surface by mechanical scrubber
Apply 20mm thick self leveling waterproof screed to engineer’s approval.
Ensure substrate is completely dry to approval of watering manufacturer.
Make sure substrates free of latience, from oils, cure and seal compounds and other
substances detrimental to bond. Any ridges and concrete irregularities shall be ground
smooth.
Rout out cracks greater than 1.6 mm wide.
Apply primal to substrate, full coverage at the rate to manufacturer’s printed instructions.
Fill cracks with sealant PQ 6800 non-sag material or as, recommended by waterproofing
manufacturer, after priming of substrate where primer is required by the membrane
manufacturer as part of the waterproofing system.
Apply surface conditioner to all metals to be covered with waterproofing.

INSTALLATION ON WALL AND SOFFITS
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
Install work of this Section in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.
Apply the liquid polyurethane waterproofing (Thixotropic grade) under manufacturer’s
representative supervision using spray or brush/roller when spraying is not possible due to
job conditions.
Prime surfaces if required by manufacture. Apply waterproofing/air barrier/salt protection
membrane to minimum thickness of 0.75mm.
Allow 24 hours curing time between coats.
Apply final coat to full coverage at right angles to the first to provide a total coating thickness
of minimum 1.5 mm.
Extend waterproofing p vertical surfaces min. 150 mm and extend over curbs and up stands.
At underside of slabs extend membrane on slab edge and return minimum 150 mm on top
floors.
Make good any work at penetrates membrane by recoating and re-drying with compatible
materials to prevent water penetrating the substrate. This applies particularly to such things
as brackets.
INSTALLATION ON FLOORS
•
•
•
•
•
•
Ensure that concrete substrate is clean, smooth and dry. Apply 20 mm self leveling water
proof screed prior to applying water proofing.
Ensure that prior top application of fluid waterproofing all the piping, conduit, drains, etc.,
which are penetrating the concrete slab in place.
Apply the bitumen gelified emulsion with a brush or a roller at a rate of minimum 1.5 kg/m on
horizontal surfaces and extend at least 100 mm high on vertical surfaces or as indicated on
drawings.
Allow the fluid waterproofing to cure for at least 24 hours and apply second coat at right
angles to first coat.
After proper curing and before installation of mortar and ceramic tile installer.
Co-ordinate floor waterproofing work with the ceramic tile installer.
Provide a minimum 24 hours flood test for all waterproofed floor areas and coordinate inspection and
testing company.
