HowTo : Classify VMs by site, based on their names Let’s assume VM name pattern is like ST1-VMName Site coded on 3 first digits We want to dynamically populate our sites to monitor or build dashboards for each one of them ST1 Production Site 1 ST2 Production Site 2 Other All other sites Let’s see how to create a REGeXP in business view 1. On Business View : Configuration / Categories / Add Add a new category « SITE », Dynamic type, Based on Virtual machines 2. Configuration / Groups / SITE (the group you just created) Add a new Grouping expression 3. Create the REGEXP Double clic on the logical expression to get a patern Highlight the « value » and doubleclick on the « substring » method Highlight the « value » and doubleclick on the « Name » Object property Now add all cases, Carriage return for comprehension and you get it You can test your REGEXP against real life objects !!! 4.
