Specificity According to the specificity of training concept, the way the body reacts to physical exercise is highly specific to the activity itself. In this instance, as someone who performs abdominal exercises, I may anticipate that my abdominal structure will improve and become more toned. b. Progressive overload I can keep my muscles engaged and grow stronger by switching up or advancing my workouts. For instance, throughout the first month of performing cardio exercises, I would complete 10 repetitions. The following month, I would perform 12 repetitions of the workout.
