Plan of Investigation
For this School-Based Assessment, my group's theme is ''Sports”, however, I have chosen
to investigate the topic: "The Positive Effects of Sports on Jamaican High-Schoolers." I have a
personal connection to this topic because I am a student athlete, and I have directly experienced
the transformative and positive impact that sports can have on the lives of Jamaican high-school
students like myself.
As a student of the English Language, I anticipate improving my critical thinking,
analytical, and comprehension skills through this research endeavor. With this improvement in
language proficiency, I aim to gain a more comprehensive understanding of both the chosen
topic and its alignment with the theme. Conducting this investigation will also enable me to
develop a deeper awareness and gain meaningful insights into how beneficial participating in
sports can be for my peers.
To effectively convey the findings, I have selected artefacts that align with the topic,
including a newspaper article, a picture, and a song. Additionally, English skills, such as
summarization, writing, and making inferences, will be instrumental in conducting this
investigation.
