CASE STUDY 4: WHAT ARE THE INTEGRITY, ETHICS AAND LAW POSED IN THE CASE STUDY? INTEGRITY: This is simply the behavior in which an individual is honest and has a strong sense of moral principles. She has to face between upholding her moral principles in terms of decision making or allow herself to be silenced by the offer thus affecting others involved in either the company or the incident at hand. She has to be truthful about the incident that occurred to the public, tj=his may in turn put the company’s reputation and hers at risk. she also faces a dilemma between keeping silent and getting the money in order to help her family or speak about the incident and risk her job at the company. according to Immanuel Kant’s moral theory, “Always treat humanity, whether in your own person or that of another , never simply as a means but always at the same time as an end. ”(Barbara Mackinnon, 2004). LAW: She has to obey and uphold the regulations and the rules that govern the company and the people by adhering to the requirements and the standards of the court or law imposing authorities attending to case. She has to notify them of any threat or offer that may arise from the case. ETHICS: Acording toethics, she is supposed to report and seek guidance on the matter to appropriate authorities. And ensure that she keeps all matters confidential as to not to ruin the reputation of the firm or company, this mean that she not only has to look at her interest but also of other involved in the company. She ought to see if or not the information released to the public will affect her co-workers in the company or maybe it might not great affect the company but the individual involved. “The idea that we should “promote the interest of everyone alike, ” when it is taken as a proscription of bigotry, is appealing; however it is may be objected to that such a maxim ignores the fact that people have different merits. ” James Rachels & Stuart Rachels, 2007) What options does the woman have, and what should she do and why? She has an option between either being silent and getting the money or speak on the incident. She should speak on the incident. Why because if she does so it might lead to other victims in the same scenario speak up on the matter of sexual harassment and also help avoid any future misconducts in the future in that companies and countries might impose harsher punishment to would be offenders thus deterring them from doing crime. This will also help in promoting and improve the working environment among the workers and build trust and improve productivity.
