Dexter Scott Finance 3313 Chapter one covers a wide variety of new material for students who are primarily first year students. I am currently majoring/ intend to major in both Accounting and Finance and thus most of the materials learn here will be applied to my future job especially since I do see myself going the finance route in comparison to taking a CPA exam at the end. Thus, I will be managing money for some prospective employer and may have to work with financial managers such as CFOs, vice president of finance, comptroller, treasurer and may even fill one or more of these portfolios. It is interesting to learn about how diverse the world of finance is and while I don’t work in the traditional 9-5 job it still has application in what I do. In my future job and even now in the military you must have ownership and control which leads to accountability. I will have many different types of agency problems in the future along with cost, capital budgeting and all else that a financial worker will need to contend with and solve. After obtaining my degree in finance, however, I would like to try and entrepreneurial route first so I can have people working for me instead of me working for them. However, if the entrepreneurial route doesn’t work then I will use my degree to work in financial management or work for a broker etc.
