NATURAL SCIENCE WEEK CELEBRATION 2023
Theme: "Convergence Science: Bridging Boundaries for a Sustainable Future."
PROGRAM IMPLEMENTING GUIDELINES
I.
NATSCI TIKTOK VIDEO CHALLENGE
Eligibility:
The contest is open to all students currently enrolled in any science subject or major at
our university.
Submission Guidelines:
1. Form a minimum of 5 members or a maximum of 10 members per group, create a
TikTok video (1-2 minutes in length) that highlights the importance of interdisciplinary
collaboration in science.
2. Your video should explain a complex scientific concept or problem and showcase how
different scientific disciplines can work together to address it.
3. Be creative and engaging in your presentation, making the science accessible to a
general audience.
4. Use the designated Science Month hashtag “#UMakNatSciWeekInterdisciplinary”

Submission Process:
1. Prepare Your TikTok Video: Create your TikTok video according to the contest
guidelines.
2. Submit Your Video to Your Course Professor following the format:

Share your TikTok video with your course professor for initial pre judging
and feedback.
Wait for further instructions from your professor regarding the submission
process.
3. The chosen TikTok video of the professor will be forwarded to the facilitator (Prof.
Maria Carmela Sison-Nacario)
 Get your entry number.
 A registration fee of P50.00 per entry will be charged
 Upload Your TikTok Video to Your Personal TikTok Account using the
hashtag “#UMakNatSciWeekInterdisciplinary” Entry# ____ / Title:____

This step is crucial to categorize your entry and ensure it is considered for
the contest.
Ensure that the video is set to "Public" or "Unlisted" (as per professor's
guidance) to make it accessible for judging.
Submit a copy of your valid ID and COR )Leader/Representative) to your
professor.
Judging Criteria:
Entries will be judged based on the following criteria:

Important Dates and Venue:
 Preparation Time: October 2-15, 2023
 Submission to the Professor and Pre-judgment: October 16-20, 2023
 The entry selected by the Professor must be submitted on or before October
22, 2023 to the Facilitator - Prof. Maria Carmela Siso-Nacario to get an entry
number before uploading the selected video in your TikTok account.
 Share or submit your Tiktok video link to your professor.
 The selected entry/ Tiktok video link will be forwarded to Panel of Judges for
judging on October 23-26, 2022. – c/o Prof Rosemarie Caronan and Prof Hans

 Announcement of Winners and Awarding Ceremony: (November 8, 2023/ 812PM, HPSB Rm. 615)
 There will be two winners for third prize, second prize and first (champion)
prize and 5/five consolation prizes; Winners will be contacted on how to claim
their prizes.
 Results of the competition are final and non-appealable.
II.
NATSCI - On-the-Spot Poster-Making Contest (Individual)
Eligibility:
The contest is open to all students currently enrolled in any science subject or major at
our university.
Registration Details:
1. The professor will select and recommend his or her participants;
2. Registration of the participants will start from October 2-15, 2023;
3. A Registration fee of P50.00 will be charge.
4. An online registration link and additional details will be provided (c/o Prof.
Laarni Santiago) and wait for your entry number.
5. If you have any questions or need registration details, please consult your
professor.
Materials Provided:
 The organizers will provide each participant with an illustration board for the
poster;
 Participants must bring their own art and coloring materials.
Contest Guidelines:
1. All participants must gather at Room 615, November 7, 2023/ 8-12PM
2. Create a poster on the spot that visually represents the concept of
interdisciplinary collaboration and its significance in addressing real-world
problems.
3. Your poster should convey a clear and compelling message about the importance
of scientists from different disciplines working together.
4. You may choose to focus on our theme: "Convergence Science: Bridging
Boundaries for a Sustainable Future."
5. Use creative and artistic elements to make your poster visually engaging and
thought-provoking.
6. Participants should bring their own coloring materials or tools (e.g., colored
pencils, markers) to complete their posters.
7. The poster must be done freehand, without the use of digital devices or gadgets.
Submission Process:
1. Complete your on-the-spot poster design within the specified time frame provided by
the contest organizers.
2. Submit your finished poster to the designated contest area for judging.
3. At the back of your poster, write your entry number.
