When I was a kid, our family used to live in a small house i.e., 1 BHK. I have studied from a repudiated school where children belong to good and wealthy families and so were my friends and classmates. I used to go to their house and see their houses how beautiful and big they were. I remember I always used to say my father please you also buy a luxurious house where I can have my bedroom and a lot of space to play. After a few years, my dad brought a plot and started building our dream house. I used to go to see the construction of my house with my dad as I was very excited. By seeing the regular construction, it caught my attention. I was very intrigued about how they will be built it and my curiosity has grown up as time passed. I used to ask many questions about my house construction to my dad and sometimes the workers. In school, my interest was more towards physics and mathematics than other subjects. The diverse possibility in civil engineering led me to choose civil engineering as my bachelor's degree. I am pursuing my 4th year in civil engineering from a highly competitive college of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University that is Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering and Research. My civil journey began with some principles of construction, the behavior of materials. In my 4th semester, I got introduced to subjects like concrete technology, geotechnical and environmental engineering. Every year our college arrange an annual function called 'Malhar', where each department of the college arranges their competition, and everyone participate in that competition. So, our batch of the second year arranged a bridge modeling competition and all the responsibilities of running that program well were mine and lucky that got very well. I was thinking that I should do my further higher studies in managing and that event boost my confidence to a level. In my third year, I got introduced to subjects like properties of materials like concrete and steel, structural analysis, surveying, estimation&costing, these had given me extensive exposure towards the core segments of civil engineering. But what has highly inspired me is construction management and law. And knowing to have some managing skills and a liking for the construction field I decided to pursue my higher studies in construction management. My current GPA at the end of the 6th semester is 7.9 on the 10-point scale and I have ranked in the top 10 in my department. I have always been in the top 10 percent in my department. I have also participated in internships and some summer training programs. These have helped me a lot to know the hurdles that are going to arise while working in this ever-evolving business field. My first summer internship was in the government office of India that is Nagpur Metropolitan Regional Development Authority where I worked and sought experience under the guidance of Leena Upadhaye for 1 month. Leena ma'am taught me how to calculate the estimation of a building and then she assigns me a task to calculate ground+7 building. With her little help and guidance, I was able to do that task. And at road construction firstly we surveyed the road using dumpy level, total station and make a graph to find out the cuts and pits necessary to fill and then design a straight road. I got to know a lot of knowledge of the field and things about estimation and road construction also. My second internship was under a well know construction company in Nagpur that is Kukreja Infrastructures, where I got to know a lot about how a society of apartments is planned and multistoried buildings from its foundation. During my second internship, I gained knowledge under a site engineer present there. I learned how the Soil Bearing Capacity is calculated in labs. Also got to see the design of the foundation. How multistoried structures works are carried out and some managing skills. That second internship enhanced my interest more in construction management. And as I am a person that believes more in practical knowledge than in theoretical knowledge. I was sure that construction management is the best field for me. To further enhance my knowledge and to know my field technically and digitally I have learned software like AutoCAD which I used during my project on multistoried building, I have preplanned that project on AutoCAD. I have also learned Staddpro to know more about structures and I have made a report of 3BHK house using Staddpro. I have a little predilection towards designing so I have also learned Revit architectural, to visualize my designing skills. I have worked on 2 projects throughout my bachelor’s degree. The first one was 'Mivan Technology'. The purpose of the project was that houses are scarce and as our country is a developing country, the construction should be carried out as fast as possible. So, to achieve a big target in less time Mivan technology is very helpful. In this technology, aluminum formwork is developed. Formwork is a mold that is joined with bolts and concrete is poured into it. And few days after attending strength the formwork is unbolted and structure is kept for further curing. And recently I have been involved in my final year project. We are a total of 8 members in the group and we aim to use the facemask that is being used nowadays as a binding material in the brick to increase the strength of the bricks. As masks are made up of 70 % of plastic by using masks in bricks it will be eco-friendly and our environment will be less polluted. We want the brick to maintain the same strength or more than the normal and cost-wise effective and it will be eco-friendly also. Apart from studies, I am also interested in social work. I was an NCC Cadet in my school. And now I am a member of the National Service Scheme in my college where we do plantation and aware people for Green and Clean Earth. We have also done some street Flash Mobs and Drama at Colleges to spread our message. As home to hundreds of Prestigious institutions, 7 out of 10 top universities in the world are in states. Some subjects are not in most of the college curriculum and if they are they don't have that much data and equipment to provide us enough information. But the USA has most of the subjects I am very much interested in, and many professors carry research on subjects like BIM, Risk management. Through a master’s degree in construction management, I want to learn the urban infrastructure, water resources, and management and to manage things on site. The reason why I have chosen Kent State University for my Master's in Construction Management is that the graduate program at Kent State University is aligned with my goals to pursue my career in the construction industry. Topics such as Advanced Construction Risk Management, BIM for construction management engineering economics, and strategies decision making have intrigued me more towards your university. It will be my great honor to take guidance under such faculty and I am confident that under their guidance and along with my capabilities I will be able to provide a positive contribution to the ongoing research and the department. It will be my honor to be in your prestigious university. I am looking forward to joining Kent State University in the construction management department.
