Stop operations and investigate if any oil is seen in the water.

The Master or his / her appointed representative keeps
replacement seals in his / her possession and is the only
person who can distribute replacement seals. Sufficient
spare seals must be available on board to replace all fitted
seals in use.
Identify valves and flanges to be sealed on a schematic
diagram
Post the schematic diagram in the ECR
Ensure sufficient stock of seals
Note:
MARPOL seals must be made of strong plastic, individually
numbered and a uniform high visibility colour different
from ISPS seals.

Maintain an inventory of seals sequentially numbered for easy
tracking
5) Seal valves and flanges
6) Record seal numbers in EMS 04 Seal Log
7) Breaking of seals:
a) Record reason for breaking seal
b) Replace with new seal

c) Update EMS 04 Seal Log
d) The CE / CO and Master sign EMS 04
8) Send updated Seal Log to Fleet Team via e-mail
