EDIFACT IMPLEMENTATION GUIDELINES
INTRODUCTION:
This Implementation Guideline details how General Motors intends to use the DELJIT message to be used in
Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) between trading partners involved in commerce and transport. It provides the
standardized format and establishes the data content of a DELJIT Message.
DEFINITION AND DESCRIPTION:
This documentation is fully comprehensive and allows the implementation of the EDIFACT DELJIT without the
necessity for any additional standard related documentation.
The following pages contain a full description of the EDIFACT DELJIT message as implemented by General
Motors. All segments to be used in the interchange with General Motors are included. The official EDIFACT
segment description is complemented with remarks pertaining to the specific requirements for an interchange
with General Motors. Those remarks contain specific code values used, additional information on the values
shown in a specific field, etc. The aim of those remarks is to simplify the implementation of the message.
FUNCTIONAL DEFINITION:
The DELJIT is a message which provides the ability for a customer to convey delivery sequence and Just in Time
schedule requirements to a supplier. NOTE: for Carton Procurement this DELJIT is intended to supplement the
Delivery Schedule Message (DELFOR).
REFERENCES:
This document provides the specific description of the EDIFACT DELJIT message and has been developed based
on version 97A of the EDIFACT Standard.

SERVICE SEGMENTS DESCRIPTION:
The following segments are as defined by EDIFACT.
The UNB, UNH, UNT, and UNZ segments are the envelope of any message, enclosing all the data that is
being transmitted.
The UNB (Interchange Header) and UNZ (Interchange Trailer) segments mark respectively the beginning
and the end of an interchange thereby providing a unique interchange control reference.
Within the interchange, the UNH (Message Header) and UNT (Message Trailer) segments uniquely begin
and end the various messages contained in an interchange.

Suffix.
A reference to specify a suffix added to the end of a
basic identifier.
Cross Dock Use – This 3 digit code represents the
Referral Interline Facility (RIF) for the facing cross
dock that delivers to the GM dealer. This indicator is
used only when material travels with in GM internal
logistics network. The supplier must place a placard
with the RIF 3 digit number on each freight piece as
detailed in the Ship Direct Guidelines and must print on
the UCC128 label when provided in DELJIT.

Transport Route
A predefined and identified sequence of point where
goods are collected, agreed between partners, e.g. the
party in charge of organizing the transport and the
parties where goods will be collected. The same
collecting points may be included in different transport
routes, but in a different sequence.
Cross Dock Use – This 5 digit code represents the final
delivery route load position. It identifies the sequence
freight will be loaded in the trailer for delivery of parts
that are being shipped through the GM logistics network
and identifies the. The supplier must place a separate
placard the freight with this number. This indicator is
required to appear on the UCC128 label when provided
in DELJIT.
