Transformer Ventilation Calculations-Rev.3
According to recommendations from the transformer manufacturer, forced ventilation should be
provided to remove the heat emitted from the coil. Therefore exhaust fan is provided for each
room.
Transformer Capacity: 2500 KVA
Heat Losses at no load: 5800 watt
Heat Losses in load: 20000 watt in load at 120°C, see table below
Total Heat losses Pv = Po + 1.1 x Pk
Where:
Po = No load loss
Pk = Current load loss at 115°C
Pv = 5800 + 1.1 x 20000 = 27800 watt
Ambient air temperature: 45°C
Estimated room air temperature: 55°C
Air Flow Formula:
Q (L/s) = Heat Losses / 1.23 x Temperature difference
1.23: specific heat of air
Q =27800 / 1.23 x (50-25) = 904 L/s
Add 10% factor of safety, Installed capacity is 1000 L/s for each transformer.
