CURRIMAO NATIONAL HIGH Currimao, SCHOOL Ilocos Norte DAILY LESSON PLAN Grade Level: Grade 9 Grading Period: 1st Grading Learning Area: SCIENCE Date of Teaching: September 25, 2023 – 10:00-11:00 I. OBJECTIVES A. Content Standards The learners demonstrate an understanding of: -the different patterns of inheritance. B. Performance Standards The learners should be able to: conduct an information dissemination activity on effective ways of taking care of the respiratory and circulatory systems based on data gathered from the school or local health workers C. Learning Competencies Write the LC code for each Objectives The learners should be able to… D. Values infused E. Science Process Skills Developed (if any) II. CONTENT III. LEARNING RESOURCES A. INSTRUCTIONAL PHASES LEARNING ACTIVITIES A. Reviewing previous lesson or presenting the new lesson (ELICIT) B. Establishing a purpose for the lesson (ENGAGE) C. Presenting examples/instances of the new lesson (ENGAGE) D. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills (EXPLORE) E. Developing mastery (leads to Formative Assessment) (EXPLAIN) F. Finding practical applications of concepts and skills in daily living (ELABORATE) Give examples of traits that follow the Mendelian patterns of inheritance. Are all the traits controlled by a dominant or recessive gene? What about traits that have more than two phenotypes? DO they follow the Mendelian patterns of inheritance? There are other patterns of inheritance and one of them is codominance. This results when one allele is not dominant over the other. The genetics of blood groups in humans will be used to explain the concept of codominance. Let the students do activity 5: Genetics of Blood Type See attached file no. 1. Let the students present their answers in the developmental questions of the activity. Give the students situational problems. Let apply what they have learned about codominance of human blood types for them to solve the problems. See attached file no. 2 for the situational problems. Brgy. Making generalizations and abstractions about the lesson (ELABORATE) Let the students complete the sentences related to codominance. Present the sentences one by one. See attached file no. 3. H. Evaluating learning (EVALUATE) Given the blood types of the mother and child, identify the blood type of the father. See attached file no. 4. I. Additional activities for application or remediation (EXTEND) Make a list of traits which follow the codominance pattern of inheritance. Read on incomplete dominance. V. REMARKS Participation of the students must be 100% Time allotted to be discussed in the lesson must be enough. Students and teacher must have a good internet connection. The lesson must be interactive and have a peer-to-peer and learner-teacher communication. VI. REFLECTION A. No. of learners who earned 80% in the evaluation B. No. of learners who require additional activities for remediation C. Did the remedial lessons work? No. of learners who have caught up with the lesson D. No. of learners who continue to require remediation E. Which of my teaching strategies Brgy. Pias Norte, Currimao, Ilocos Norte, 2903 Tel. II. III. Objectives a. Predict gene combinations expected in offspring based on the genes carried in male and female gametes. b. Determine all possible combinations of genes for a blood type that a person might have. c. Explain codominance. Materials a. Paper b. Pencil Procedure a. Blood type is determined by the presence or absence of two antigens – antigen A and antigen B. The body’s ability to produce antigens is a trait that is inherited. There are four possible blood types. Antigen(s) present Blood type Genotypes IA, IA, IA, i A A IB, IB, IB, i B B IA, IB A and B AB i, i No antigens present O Question 1. Using the following information mentioned, complete the following sentences. *The gene for blood type A is dominant over the gene for blood type _____. *The gene for blood type B is dominant over the gene for blood type _____. *The gene for blood type A is not dominant over the gene for blood type _____. *The gene for blood type B is not dominant over the gene for blood type ______. *The gene for blood type O is recessive to genes _____.
