Hewlett Packard Enterprise - How To Use This Document
The HPE Data Availability, Protection and Retention Compatibility Matrix provides information for designing data protection solutions, including backup/restore/archiving using storage
products. The StoreEver products have interoperability (IOP) details shown in their respective the operating systems pages.
The matrix is a rolling support document with new products/firmware/software support being added monthly and when appropriate older products removed or moved to Legacy support.
Legacy support means that product is no longer being actively tested, but still supported with the configuration shown in the last matrix in which it was listed. When a device or operating
systems is removed from the matrix an update to the 'Legacy Device Support' page will be added to show which matrix was the last to show support.
NOTE: Data Protection applications are tested with HPE Storage and communicated in this document. The software and hardware support information provided by the software vendor should
also be checked to verify application, file system, operating system and storage hardware compatibility.
Updates/changes to individual fields within the Matrix will be highlighted in RED. Products highlighted in YELLOW will be removed from the StorEver Compatibility Matrix in the next release.

Determine which HPE Products you are interested in finding support about, then review that entire section for compatibility with HPE firmware, advanced features, connectivity
compatibility and Independent Software Vendors (ISV) .
2.
Consult the Independent Software Vendors (ISV) product compatibility guide(s) for support details such as product versions, OS versions, hotfixes, patches, special notes, driver details and
hardware devices supported by the vendor. See the ISV Compatibility Links page in this matrix for direct links to the vendor websites.
3.
Check the 'Legacy Support' page (near the end of the matrix) to see if the product/OS has been moved to legacy support. If so, note the month at which support was moved to legacy
support and find the older matrix link.
4.
Due to differences in support, it is very important to verify which servers and OS’s are supported by your HBA or controller by referring their individual QuickSpec. There are direct
hyperlinks to HPE Server QuickSpecs in the StoreEver section in this Matrix. HPE QuickSpecs online: hpe.com/info/qs

HPE storage products should always run latest firmware, OS, drivers and software versions. Systems running older versions face an increased risk from exposure to known (and unknown)
issues. If a system is running older versions and encounters an issue, HPE Support will request upgrading to current versions. Each section of this matrix provides the current firmware, OS,
drivers or system software code that is supported by each platform.

Additional technical information, guidelines and rules can be found in the various Backup Application Implementation Guides and whitepapers located on the HPE Solution Whitepapers
page in this matrix.

This Matrix only shows compatibility for FC SAN media servers. A FC SAN media server is defined as a server with direct access to backup devices. Other operating systems may be
supported within Matrix by the respective ISVs as LAN clients, where a LAN client does not have direct access to the backup device but is backed up over a LAN connection to a server with
direct access to backup devices.

For usage of non-HPE branded HBA’s and switches, HPE recommends that such hardware be made “HPE-like”, through the deployment of same versions of firmware, BIOS, NVRAM,
configurations and, where applicable, HBA drivers. In cases where non-HPE storage infrastructure is used, the vendor who supplied and delivered hardware is responsible for break/fix
support.

2. LTO7+ driver-based failover does not support direct connect configurations with Emulex 8Gb host bus adapters in Windows environments. The host will lose communication with the
storage device during a link failure and require a host reboot to recover the communication to the storage device.
3. It is recommended to set Emulex host bus adapter topology to N-port/Fport instead of auto-topology. When auto-topology is used the host bus adapter can run out of B2B credits due to
link failures which can result in abnormal termination of jobs.
