In today’s world shopping has become very important. These days shopping is divided into
two categories the traditional shopping and online shopping. Online shopping has become very vital
as it provides us the convenience of shopping wherever and whenever we can, so it at the office, safe
or in the comfort of your home. On the contrary physical or as we say traditional shopping is still
prevalent as many people still believe to touch and feel the products which they are buying.
Online shopping has changed rather transformed the way we go shopping for gifts. The most
important benefit of online shopping is convenience. A couple of clicks and one can explore a wide
range of options for gifting. It has become an essential aspect of our way of life due to the
exponential development in awareness and digital literacy. The best thing about online purchasing is
that it can be done quickly, by simply hitting a tab.
Post pandemic online shopping has taken a front seat. According to India Brand Equity
Foundation, the Indian and commerce market is expected to reach USD16-20B billion by 2025 and
USD 350 billion by 2030.
Online purchasing also has the advantage of being unexpensive as throughout the year,
internet retailers offer a lot of tempting discounts, which helps a customer save a lot of money by the
coupon codes, referral discounts, credit cards, debit cards etc.
The selection available to a customer when shopping online is extensive. The customers can
browse through a range of products in a single season. With a hassle-free shipping and return policy
it makes the experience more trustworthy. Apart from this easy request of refund is also taken care
by just the click of a mouse. The status of your gift/purchase order and its delivery can be tracked via
the website.
However, with the advantages comes certain disadvantages also. There is no way to
guarantee that you will receive your product on time because there can be a logistics issue. Also,
there is a continuous and larger range of online fraud, hacking etc.
If one isn’t familiar with the brand or the product line one is interested in them, online
purchase can be a disappointment also because you can’t tell the quality or durability of the product
from a picture. Some websites tell you to register or sign up with their site through your email
address which can be used as a data leak. Online shopping is on their own and have no assistance or
consultation which may lead to a rash purchase.
