Phonics activities to do at home
• It is really important to focus on the letter
sounds rather than the letter names.
• Choose a sound to focus on, e.g., ‘‘sss’’
Encourage your child to trace the sound:
- in the air
- on the floor
- on your back
- using finger paint
- using string
Make the sound with playdough. Say
‘‘sss’’ at the same time.
• Collect 6 plastic bottle caps.
Use a permanent marker to write the
following blends on each cap:
