Designing and implementing community based waste recycling such as the selection at source – 3 bag system. Development and delivery of capacity building and skills development plan. Offering both accredited and nonaccredited environmental and occupational health courses to the EPH of 15. Setting up 1ha central food garden that shall be used as a demonstration center for 3 years. Feasibility studies for the development of appropriate plan, systems and mechanisms for suitable urban waste management. Carrying out recycling campaigns, awareness and road shows. The proposed city food and waste management pilot phase project will run for 18 Months and will require close to 3 million rands. A revised plan will then be presented after the evaluation of phase 1, targeting to phase 2 implementation. Impact (social economic & environmental) Creation of employment; 15 permanent jobs for 3 years for the facilitators and more than 20 par time jobs on waste recycling and the food garden initiative.
