Dear Sir, RE: ILLEGAL INSTALLATION OF MR. PATRICK YOMBWE AS CHIEF MULAKWA With reference to the above captioned subject, the Mulewa Mwansabamba Royal Family of Chief Mulakwa on 28th September 2019 by Chief Kasoma Bangweulu of Samfya. As the Royal Family of Mulewa Mwansabamba, we deem this installation ceremony illegal because chiefs in the Mulakwa chiefdom are elected from amongst the subjects of the chiefdom by the village headpersons whom from the traditional Electoral College, and the person who was duly elected as Chief Mulakwa by the village headperson on 20 th February 2018 was Mr. James Kalaba and not Mr. Patrick yombwe. The people in Mulakwa chiefdom have since then been waiting for the installation of Mr. James Kalaba as Chief Mulakwa. Surprisingly, Chief Kasoma Bangweulu in collaboration with the Provincial Chiefs and Tradition Affairs Officer, Mr. Noah Mwisa, the Deputy Provincial Permanent Secretary, Mr. Lloyd Chakaba and Samfya District Commissioner, Mr. Nason Bwalya decided to install Mr. Patrick Yombwe who was not elected by the village headpersons as Chief Mulakwa. Worse still, Chief Kasoma Bangweulu brought with him to this illegal installation ceremony about one hundred police officers who beat up some people, detained them in police cells for more than five days and destroyed their household goods and foodstuff such as mealie meal for unknown reasons. We therefore, not only find the conduct of Chief Kasoma Bangweulu and the government officers mentioned herein unacceptable but also a violation of fundamental human rights and freedoms protected under part III of Constitution of Zambia of 1996. The people of Mulakwa Chiefdom know what is best for them and no one should force them to accept what they do not want. As the royal family of Mulewa Mwansabamba, we kindly appeal to your Ministry and the House of Chiefs to consider nullifying the installation of Mr. Patrick Yombwe as chief Mulakwa owing to the above mentioned wrongful acts and irregularities by Chief Kasoma Bangweulu. In collaboration with the government, officers already mentioned herein, and install Mr. James Kalaba whom the village headpersons duly elected as Chief Mulakwa.
