encountered and the solutions they devised. Moreover, they provide insights into structures, cultural
practices and beliefs of different civilizations. By delving into writings, we not only learn about our
own history, culture and values but also find inspiration to build a brighter future for ourselves.
2. As a student studying Philippine history, how does your knowledge of various primary sources benefit
you?
These primary materials give me a personal perspective of what transpired at that time and enable
me to piece together an authentic and unbiased picture of our past. This understanding also allows
me to create a more comprehensive view of Philippine history and its relevance. In short, my
comprehension of Philippine history as a whole depends on my study of primary sources.
3. In the process of studying history, what values or skills can you acquire through the application historical
criticism?
By utilizing criticism, in the study of history I can gain a range of values and skills that enable me to
navigate the complexities of the world around us more effectively. Historical criticism emphasizes
thinking encourages empathy towards individuals from cultures and time periods and facilitates a
deeper comprehension of the intricate nature of human behavior. It also teaches us to evaluate the
