Where To Get Help
TAs: All TAs for CHEM 1 hold their office hours in PSBN 2637.
CLAS: Organized tutor groups and drop-in sessions. The organized tutor groups
meet twice weekly for 1 hour http://www.clas.ucsb.edu

Go to http://www.aleks.com
Sign into your account
Click on the "Actions" drop-down menu
Select "Switch to a new class"
• In the box provided, enter the course code: 9DT6V-XGVW9
• You should not need to purchase an account because you should have
purchased a two year subscription when you started the summer assignment.
• Please verify that your correct perm number is in ALEKS. To do this log into
your account. Click on the ≡ icon (3 bars) in the upper left corner of the screen.
This will bring up a menu in which you can choose "manage my classes."
Click the down arrow next to your name and select "account settings." Click
"edit" next to your school and check and change your perm number if needed.
Problems with ALEKS
• You need to notify tech support immediately if there is a
technical problem.
• Start assignments early to prevent last-minute disasters
• Computer labs in Phelps, HSSB, LSCF, SRB and Library

Using ALEKS Effectively
• In learning mode, attempt problems BEFORE hitting
“explain” button
• Do a little every night (~30 minutes per night)
