Dear Sir,
I am submitting the application for the chemist role at Infineum. I have a strong background
in organic, polymer and physical chemistry with expertise in various analytical techniques.
Organic chemistry has found its major industrial application in petroleum along with other
industries.
I have specialization in organic material synthesis, purification and dealing with different
reaction intermediates. Moreover, I also have strong background in physical chemistry during
my M.Sc. and M.Phil. degree that makes me competent to understand the thermodynamics
and kinetics of the reaction. I have strong ability in data manipulation, its critical analysis
with the other reported results and drawing the conclusions.
During my Ph.D., I also got expertise in synthesis and characterization of high molecular
weight polymers (with alkyl and aryl chains) and controlling their degree of polymerization.
The high molecular weight polymers are reported to have applications as paraffin inhibitor
which in turn reduces the pour point and viscosity. I also did lab demonstration and
supervision of undergraduate chemistry labs along with my Ph.D. which were based upon the
application of surfactants. I am well aware of the chemistry of surfactants and how the
micellization helps to broaden their application as good paraffin dispersants.
In automobile industry, addition of additives increases the gasoline performance. The
additives are organic in nature. As a chemist, I can predict their interaction and can suggest
better additives on the basis of my research expertise.
Moreover, I also have an understanding of asphaltene molecules, major part of crude oil. One
of the major problems with these molecules is that they can precipitate and can cause the
blockage of engine pipes. To work on asphaltene inhibitors will be an interesting as well as
challenging role for me.
Moreover, I worked on separation of gases and liquid from their mixtures during my Ph.D.
research. Separation of gaseous mixture was carried out by adsorption methods and bubble
flow method. The liquid mixture separation was carried out by membrane separation
techniques, pervaporation, perstraction and nanofiltration.
The company has strong strategic position in the market, ranging its products from
motorcycles to marine industry. To join the Infineum as a chemist will not only help to
broaden my network in the industry but will also help me a lot to learn. That has made me
more passionate to join the company as my industrial career.
