is about Dr.Jose Rizal wherein the novel entitled ''Sa Aking mga Kabata'' and the
controversial signature in the retraction document. Lastly, in the Marcos
government is the ''Tribe of Tasaday'' and the ''War Hero''
2. What is the purpose of the documentary ‘’History with Lourd: Greatest Hoaxes in
Philippine History’’ how does it change our understanding of history/
The purpose of this documentary is to give awareness to Filipinos especially
the young generations that there's a place of truth and every secret has to be right
to revealed when it is a very long time. We all know that history is our identity so if
our history is not reliable and it becomes a lie, there's no history at all. Furthermore,
it changes our understanding of history in a way that every part of our history is not
an exception to the lies and false information that happened before and maybe
most Filipinos don't have a conversation about this.
3. Why did Jose Marco become the most successful Conman in the study of
Philippine History?
I think he became the most conman in the study of our history is that he
wanted to put his name in Philippine history. Another reason is his ego, he wants
to be well-known someday and it turns out that he succeeded because of his fake
documents. Also, the financial factor because in this way he can sell the
documents and have money on that.
4. What are the hoaxes during Marcos administration? What kind of historical did
historians use to uncover those hoaxes?
The tribe of Tasaday in south Cotabato and it was discovered by Manuel
Elizalde the leader of the presedential arm for national minorities. This was clear
in public that these people when the Stone Age period began are not seen by the
citizens. This was used by the regime of Marcos because of the original culture
made by the people of the tribe. Elizalde is one of the closest friends of Marcos so
he ask for permission to close the tribe to preserve the natural culture. Apparently,
historian experts asses the credibility of the tribe, and when Marcos was fired from
the position as president, Elizalde leave the Philippines carry the development
funds and it became a show like nothing happened. Additionally, the ‘’war hero’’
by Marcos is also a hoax. He claimed that he received the awards and medals by
fighting in World War II according to his biography. It said that he became a leader
of the group Maharlikas and it was his prbopaganda also. But the u.S military
claimed that Marcos has no record together with his group fighting against World
War II. According to the research of Congress and retired army colonel Bonifacio
Guiilego there’s no record of him receiving the award from World War II.
5. What lesson did this documentary impart especially in relation to the spread of fake
news?
The documentary video wants to convey to the audience is be careful about
the information that we see or hear on social media, we don’t know what is true or
not especially now that there is the internet and it there’s a lot of websites that you
can access once you search it. We also know what technology can offer, it can
maybe a good or bad thing. In addition, I hope that people nowadays should make
the use of social media more meaningful, such as creating documentaries like this.
6. What measures can be taken to prevent the spread of false historical information
and hoaxes in the digital age?
