Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan In Crafts Design (Handicrafts) Name: Nathalie V. Deinla Course & Section: BTLED H.E-3A I. Objectives At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to do the following task with at least 75% of proficiency; A. Discuss the four steps in Setting up the Macramé Cords B. Identify the proper way in setting up the Macramé Cords C. Perform the four steps of Setting up the Macramé Cords II. Subject Matter Sub-Topic: Setting Up The Macramé Instructional Materials: Visual Aid References: Internet, Book Values Integration: Understanding Collaborative III. Procedure A. Preliminary Activities 1. Greetings 2. Prayer 3. Attendance 4. Review of the past lesson (The teacher ask the students about the previous lesson) 5. Motivation (The teacher will let the class execute a dance routine by following the video presented in the screen accompanied by music.) B. Activity: (The teacher will announce to the class to bring the different kind of tools and equipment of Macramé, the first student who can give the tools and equipment will have a reward.) C. Analysis (What do you think the importance of setting up the macramé cords?) D. Abstraction (The teacher will discuss the Setting up of Macramé Cords) • • • • Estimating cord length - for a macramé project is difficult, but a good way to start is with individual cords that are seven to eight times the length of the finished piece. As a beginner, add a little extra to your estimate because there are many factors that determine how much cord is needed. If a design is predominantly vertical, less cord will be required than for a design with many horizontal areas. If a design has lots of knots, it will take more cord than a design with areas of floating cords (cords without knots). Tightly tied knots require more cord than loosely tied knots. Estimating the number of cords – It is important when making a belt or wall hanging. To do this, you must first decide how wide the piece is and lay strands side by side until they equal one inch. Multiply the number in one inch by the number of inches in the piece to get the total number of cords needed. For example, if a 15-inch-wide wall hanging requires four cords to the inch, you will need sixty cords. Measuring and Cutting - Measure and cut long cords can be done efficiently by measuring one length with a ruler or yardstick, cutting it, and using that length to measure all subsequent cords. If you have many cords to cut, attach two C-clamps to the edge of a table, tie the end of the card to one C-clamp, wrap the cord around the other, and bring it back to the first. You can also measure cords using the backs of two chairs, winding the cord around two doorknobs, or between the handles of kitchen cabinets. A weaver's warping board is handy to use if one is available. Anchoring Cords - Macramé knots must be tied with the cords held under tension. There are several alternatives for anchoring the cords, such as slipping a dowel between kitchen cabinets or slatted chairs, weighting down a chair with books, and tying one end to a door knob or dresser drawer handle. If the cords are attached to a dowel, it can be slipped between the handles of two kitchen cabinets or slatted chairs, or put the dowel behind a ladder-hack or slatted chair. Articles that are long and narrow can be kept under tension by tying one end to a door knob or dresser drawer handle. E. Application (The Teacher will divide the class into 4 groups, each group would pick 1 of the four steps in setting up the macramé cords and will perform it to the class.) IV. Generalization (The teacher will ask the student what have they learned about the topic.) V. Evaluation Identification: Answer the following question. 1. It determine how much cord is needed. Estimating Cord Length 2. Multiply the number in one inch by the number of inches in the piece to get the total number of cords needed. Estimating the number of cords 3. It can be done efficiently by measuring one length with a ruler or yardstick, cutting it, and using that length to measure all subsequent cords. Measuring and Cutting 4. Macramé knots must be tied with the cords held under tension. Anchoring Cords 5. It is a process that you should do before creating a macramé. Setting up the Macramé Cords VI. Assignment Do a research on how to handle long cords.
