INTRODUCTION The test system described in this manual is used for maintenance and servicing of diagnostic ultrasound systems. It consists of a maintenance menu which assists the user in maintenance of diagnostic ultrasound systems and a service menu that assists the service engineers in servicing diagnostic ultrasound systems. Note: The service menu functions are not available to users. 1.1 Maintenance Menu Configuration (For Users) The maintenance menu is composed of the following 6 items. ⎯ Menu name Description (use and purpose) 1 Archiving • Used to regularly back up user-specific data on separate media as a measure against problems such as HDD failure. • Allows the use of removable media. 2 System Test • Used to check if the hardware is operating normally. • When something appears to be wrong with the operation of a device, this function can be used to check the status of the device. • This function can identify the malfunctioning board. • The test results can be saved in the HDD according to the specified settings 3 System Maintenance • A template is provided for the user's daily check record. 4 Communication • This function allows the user to transmit requests and notifications to the service company. • This function is also used to check and read the response from the service company. 5 Remote Access Management • With this function, the user can permit the service company to perform remote maintenance on the system via a network or telephone line. 6 Image Quality Report • When a problem (such as noise) occurs for an image, the settings, such as the imaging conditions, can be saved on the HDD together with the problem image Note: 1. Data recorded on the HDD must be backed up regularly. 2. When service mode is started up, the touch panel screen and the panel are placed in service mode until service mode is terminated. Usual panel operation and touch panel screen operation are disabled in service mode. (2) Restarting interrupted software If service mode is started when other software components are in the interrupted status, it may not be possible to restart the software after exiting service mode. The system may have to be turned OFF and restarted after servicing is completed. 2.2 Outline of the Maintenance Menu Operation of the maintenance menu is possible only at the diagnostic ultrasound systems. The menu is provided as a pop-up menu. The Image Quality Report function, however, is provided in the OTHER menu on the touch panel. (1) Basic maintenance menu window The maintenance menu window is configured with the following basic format. Cancel ! Go Exit Each window has [Cancel], [Go], and [Exit] buttons. The buttons have the following functions: (a) [Go] : Executes the specified process. (b) [Cancel] : Stops the process in progress immediately. The process in progress is returned to the status before execution. (c) [Exit] : Closes the window. 2-!1 (2) Setting of whether menus are to be displayed It is possible to set whether or not the System Test, System Maintenance, Image Quality Report, and Communication menus are displayed. The settings are specified in Service Config in the service menu (refer to subsection 4.3.8). In the default status, the System Test and Communication menus are not displayed. These menus should not be displayed until the corresponding function is supported. 2.3 Outline of the Service Menu The service menu can be operated in two ways: by displaying it on the system monitor or by accessing it using a remote PC. Service menu item window: When an item is selected, a window with the following configuration is displayed. ! 2-!3 2.4 Reboot Function The system is rebooted automatically in the following cases: (1) When system operation becomes unstable (2) When the basic system settings are changed 2-!4 * 3. 3.1 MAINTENANCE MENU FUNCTIONS Activation and Termination (1) Activation Press the MENU switch on the panel, select Maintenance in the pop-up menu, and then select the desired function in the submenu. ! (a) Archiving, System Maintenance, Remote Access Management These functions are activated by selecting the corresponding function name in the Maintenance submenu. (b) Image Quality Report This function is activated by pressing [IQ Report] in the OTHER menu on the touch panel. (2) Termination To terminate a function, select Exit in the dialog box for the function. Refer to the explanation of termination processing for each function. 3-!1 3.2 Archiving (1) Purpose (a) Used to regularly back up the user-specific data on separate media as a measure against problems such as HDD failure. (b) The data to be backed up is listed below: • User-defined measurement data (values defined using Application Preset Editor in Exam Type Edit in the System Setting pop-up menu) • User-defined system presets (preset values defined in General Preset, Peripheral System, OUTPUT, and Exam Information in the System Setting pop-up menu) and Imaging presets (imaging parameter information that can be saved for each Exam Type displayed by pressing the Preset switch on the touch panel) • Service-related presets (preset values defined in the service menu) Note: Removable media must be used to back up the user-specific data. The system identification data must be stored on the media. Otherwise, the media is ejected automatically and the data cannot be saved. Each system requires dedicated media. (2) Display window ! 3-!2 No. (3) 3.3 Item Description 1. Drive • Used to specify the drive (external media) for making the backup copy. 2. Refresh Drive List • Used to obtain the drive connection data 3. Initialize Media • Used to write system identification data onto backup media. This process cannot be aborted. • This button is disabled during backup operation 4. Progress Status Bar • Indicates the progress of archiving. 5. [Cancel] • Aborts backup operation. The data backed up before the process was aborted cannot be restored (the directory name is changed). 6. [Go] • Starts backup operation. 7. [Exit] • Closes the window. Brief description of the procedure (a) Prepare (insert) the media for backup. (b) Select a drive. (c) Press [Initialize Media]. (d) Press [Go] in the bottom right part of the window. (e) The backup process starts. (f) The backup process ends. When the backup data is saved, the media is ejected automatically from the drive. (g) Press [Exit] in the bottom right corner to close the window. System Maintenance (1) Purpose • Provides a template for the daily check conducted by the user. • Provides a hard copy of the check record and saves the check record on the HDD. 3-!3 (2) Display window ! (a) Check window No. Item Description 1. Check items • Items to be checked. • In the pull-down menu, select No Execution, Pass, or Fail. The default is No Execution for all items. 2. Site and system data • Displays the site and system data (data is displayed automatically). 3. Date • Test date (Displayed automatically. The date format normally used in the system is used.) 4. Tester Name • Enter the name of the person doing the test. (If the person responsible has already been specified, his/ her name appears automatically.) 5. [Display] • Displays a test pattern on the monitor. 6. [Execute] • Starts the Operation Panel test screen. 7. [Cancel] • Initializes the entered data. 8. [Print] • Prints out the test results and stores the data on the hard disk. 9. [Exit] • Closes the window. 3-!4 (b) Monitor CRT test screen When the [Display] button is pressed, a test pattern is displayed on the monitor for approximately 5 seconds. ! 3-!5 (c) Operation Panel test screen When the [Execute] button is pressed, the following window is displayed. The ROM and RAM tests are executed automatically, and Button Tests and other tests are performed interactively. The highlight moves to the item being executed. For each test, one of the four statuses (Checking, Pass, Failed, and Indistinct) is displayed. "Checking" appears while the test is being executed. "Pass" appears upon normal completion of a test. "Failed" appears upon abnormal termination of a test. "Indistinct" appears when a test is aborted. ROM and RAM checks cannot be aborted. ! ! The following window is displayed at the top of the test screen for the switch test. Clicking this button results in moving to the previous test. The status of the previous test is Indistinct. Note that this button is invalid in the case of "Button Test 1". Clicking this button results in moving to the next test. The status of the next test is Indistinct. Push the illuminated Button. << Back Next >> The following window is displayed at the top of the test screen for the keyboard test. ! Clicking this button results in returning to "Button Test 5". Start keyboard test Type something. << Back 3-!6 Next >> Invalid key <<Operation Panel test items>> • ROM The ROMs in the circuit in the panel are checked automatically. • RAM The RAMs in the circuit in the panel are checked automatically. • Panel switch test The LEDs on the switches of the panel are lit in sequence and the peripheral circuits for the switches are checked when the switches corresponding to the lit LEDs are pressed. (d) Press [Exit] in the bottom right corner to close the window. Remote Access Management (1) Purpose The user can permit the service company to perform remote maintenance on the system via a network or telephone line. (2) Display window ! No. 1. (3) Item [Exit] Description • Closes the window. Reboots the system. Brief description of the procedures Press [Exit] in the bottom right corner of the window to close the window. The system is rebooted. 3-!8 3.5 Image Quality Report (1) Purpose When an abnormality occurs for an image, this function saves the image and the system data. (2) Display window No window is provided. The operation status is indicated by the "in-service" display on the touch panel. (3) Brief description of the procedure No special operation is required. When a user identifies an abnormal image, the image can be saved in the following manner. Freeze the image ! Select OTHER menu (touch panel) ! Press [IQ Report] ! The contents displayed on the TV monitor are saved. 3-!9 * 4. 4.1 SERVICE MENU FUNCTIONS Activation (1) License key for activation A license key based on a fixed Vendor Host ID is required for activation. Note: For on-site license key activation, the service engineer prepares the media (CD, MO, etc.) containing the license key. If such a media is unavailable, the TAC issues a license key that is valid for one day only. (2) Activation processes <<Sites with a service contract and InnerVision>> Activation at the diagnostic ultrasound system (a) Select [Service] in the pop-up menu to display the corresponding submenu. (b) Press "Ctrl + Shift" on the keyboard and press the right trackball button at the same time. (c) The license key entry window appears. (d) Enter the license key. (e) The service menu is displayed. Activation from a network PC (a) Give the user the following instructions over the telephone. Select [Service] in the pop-up menu and select Maintenance. Start Remote Access Management and permit remote access. (b) After remote access is permitted, open the license entry window by entering the address in the browser on the InnerVision system screen. (c) The license entry window is displayed on the InnerVision system screen. (d) Enter the license key. (e) The service menu is displayed on the InnerVision system screen. <<Sites with a service contract only (no InnerVision)>> Activation at the diagnostic ultrasound system • Operations on the diagnostic ultrasound system are identical with those for sites with a service contract and InnerVision. Activation from a network PC • Remote access is not supported. 4-!1 Select the desired function from the menu displayed by selecting [Service] in the pop-up menu. (b) Select [Service] in the pop-up menu to display the corresponding submenu. (c) Press "Ctrl + Shift" on the keyboard and press the right trackball button at the same time. (d) The license key entry window appears. Press the "License Read" button. Activation from a network PC • Remote access is not possible. 4-!2 (3) License key entry window: Enter the license key in this field. Asterisks are displayed for the entered characters. The higher-order 14 characters of the key can be stored in the system by selecting "Set as Default" in the license key entry window. Enter the use time after which the next inspection is to be performed. • Every Power OnTime • The message is displayed every time the power is turned ON when an inspection is overdue. • Just One Time • The message is displayed only the first time the power is turned ON after an inspection becomes overdue. 6.
