MATHEMATICS AND SCIENCE MONTH CULMINATING ACTIVITY
I. Identifying Information
Program Title: Mathematics and Science Month 2023
Theme: “Science for People: Enabling Technologies for Sustainable Development.
Mathematics for People: Creating Problem Solvers and Critical Thinkers”
Date: October 2, 2023
Time: 8:00 – 10:00 AM
Venue: Parami Elementary School Mini Stage
II. Rationale
This program was organized by the school for the celebration of the Mathematics and
Science Month 2023. This program is to develop student's ideas on Mathematics and Science
education related activities as well as improve their skills in the said areas.
This is also in accordance with DepEd Order No. 13, s. 2023 where the DepEd has adopted
a National Learning Recovery Program that underscores the need to address learning losses
among students caused by the COVID-19 pandemic’s disruption of in-person schooling. Under
DepEd’s learning recovery program, the department will roll out a national reading program,
national mathematics program and a national science and technology program. The Philippines
ranked second lowest in science and mathematics in the 2018 Programme for International
Student Assessment, which tested 15-year-olds across 79 countries. With such, the DepEd
remains committed to addressing Filipino learners’ low performance in international and
national assessments, according to the program rationale.
