EXPERIMENT 8 INTERNAL RESISTANCE OF CELLS Name: Jay Baiabe ID: S11206168 Course: PHF03 Group: Two(2) . Introduction In this experiment, the internal resistance of two cells—one old and one new—will be compared, and the emf of each cell will also be determined in this experiment. Aim to examine cell combinations and measure the internal resistance and emf of the cells. Apparatus 1. Rheostat 2. Voltmeter 3. Ammeter 4. Switch 5. Connecting wires 6. 2 dry cells (one new and one old) Procedure As per lab manual page 73 & 75 Results Cells Estimated Voltage(Volts) Measured Voltage(Volts) A 0 0 B 2 1.9 C 1 1.5 Old Cell Voltage(Volts) Current(Amps) 1.41 1.3 1.25 1.0 0.95 0 0 0.1 0.2 0.3 New Cell Voltage(Volts) Current(Amps) 1.5 1.4 1.3 1.25 1.2 0 0.1 0.2 0.4 0.5 Graphs 1,6 1,4 1,2 Voltage(Volts) 1 0,8 Ряд1 0,6 0,4 0,2 0 0 0,1 0,2 0,3 Current(Amps) 0,4 0,5 0,6 Discussion During the experiment, there are errors occurred that affects the results. No proper equipment, for example the ammeter and voltmeter used was not really proper function, from the results there are some value affected. Conclusion After the experiment we were able to combine connection, measure resistance by using a voltmeter to find voltage(V) and ammeter to determine Current(I) then calculate the resistance using the formula, R=V/I.
