KINE 3301 BY ; COACH MICAH BUCHANAN PHYSICAL AND PHYSICAL FITNESS • Aerobic exercise - Aerobic exercise is basically big workouts that increase your oxygen usage and builds up your health. • Resistance training - Resistance training is a small workout with hand weights or groceries. • Stretching – is the basic regular stretching that you would do on a daily workout basis ACHIEVING AND MAINTAINING A HEALTHY BODY WEIGHT • What does BMI stand for ? BMI stands for Body Mass Index • BMI is the ratio of a person’s body weight and height of the women/male. FOOD SAFETY AND TECHNOLOGY PROTECTING OUR FOOD • The main thing with food handling is you have to safe and wear gloves when touching food or cooking. • Food should be treated the best to make sure you get the best taste when your cooking your food. • Not doing that can cause food poising or a stomach bug. NUTRITION LINKING FOOD AND HEALTH • There are many different diets and food types. The main focus when trying to match the food with your workout is that you have to take the right precautions to make sure no food is too much calories or even too much food to not shred the weight. • The main focus is to have only 3 good meals a day that won’t go over your calories intake. DESIGNING A HEALTHFUL DIET • The thing that caught my attention about this topic was how much some foods are considered low density and high density. • A Low nutrient density breakfast meal is 1 cup puffed rice cereal with1/2 cup of whole milk , 1 slice white toast with, 1 tsp. butter and 6 fl. Oz grape drink. • A high nutrient density breakfast meal is 1 cup cooked oatmeal with1/2 cup skim milk, 1 slice whole-wheat toast with 1 tsp. butter and 6 fl. Oz grapefruit juice. HOW NUTRIENT AND FITNESS RELATED TO ME ? • I can relate to this topic the most because I have tried before to lose weight but I was unsuccessful because I couldn’t stay on track with the right meals and working out so by me reading over this topic helped me realize what to do and what not to do. HOW MAINTAINING A HEALTHY BODY WEIGHT RELATED TO ME ? • Maintain body weight is a big key factor to why I want to lose weight is because I recently got big and let myself lose and I wanted to make sure that never happens again to me and I really need to watch my BMI to make sure I'm doing the right things to keep the body type that I want. HOW FOOD AND SAFETY TECHNOLOGY RELATES TO ME ? • My family is from the south and we have meal traditions and how to prep them, but a lot of African American people know some thing they do isn’t the healthiest way to take care of food. • I related to that because my family likes to leave food out sometimes and I know if you leave meat or milk out for too long it is not good to drink or eat anymore. HOW DESIGN A HEALTHY HABIT RELATED TO ME ? • The reason this related to me is because before this class I wasn’t big on meal preps and other stuff but after reading this chapter it made me realize how useful and helpful a meal prep can be for you and your family. • I want to start this summer by meal prepping with bake chicken and also have more greens added to the meals that I eat. HOW LINKING FOOD AND HEALTH RELATED TO ME ? • As an African American person know for a fact that the soul food that we put in our body isn’t the best thing to eat on a very daily or every now and then basis. • People in my family has had diabetes's , high blood pleasure and many other stuff just because the food that they ate over the years wasn’t the best to eat all the time like they did and I don’t want that to happen to me. WHAT’S MY PLAN FOR PHYSICAL FITNESS ? • My plan is to maintain a daily workout routine. • I will workout twice a day • I will run/walk 2 miles a day WHAT’S MY PLAN FOR MAINTAINING A HEALTHY BODY WEIGHT ? My plan with keeping a good balanced weight is to watch my BMI and also make sure I'm taking the right precaution's to not over eating or over working out my body. WHAT’S MY PLAN DESIGNING A HEALTHFUL DIET ? • I plan to start meal prepping and making sure I have green vegetables and other foods in my meals to make sure everything is balanced out for everything. WHAT’S MY PLAN WITH FOOD SAFETY AND PROTECTING FOOD ? • I would plan to change how my family lets food sit out and how to properly put food away and make sure we are doing everything the right way so body can get food poising or anything else.
