DESCON has won the contract for the LASMO Oil pipeline work for the
Bhit Gas Field Development Project, located in interior Sindh. This
project has further enhanced the firm's credentials in the pipelines
business area. The project must be started in April 2002
Case Study
Altaf Baig, Head of the Projects Division was looking for a Site Manager of Grade Three at
Design Engineering Services and Construction Ltd (DESCON) for the LASMO Oil pipeline
project in Southern Pakistan. The Head of the HR Department, Sabeeh Faruqi and Shahid
Luqman Deputy, HR Department, had identified several competent engineers for the Site
Manager's position at the DESCON head office in Lahore. On March l, 2002 Altaf Baig was
going through the resumes of five potential candidates for the position of Site Manager. He had
to decide how to proceed to select the right candidate for the job well before the March 1s,
2002 deadline.
