What is the origin or meaning of the holiday?
Its origin was in Santa Ana de los Ríos de Cuenca and it is considered a national holiday.
How do people prepare and celebrate the holiday?
It is celebrated with different cultural, artistic and institutional events such as fairs of various kinds, concerts,
parades and the notorious "Cuencana Night" event of fireworks and music.
What are some of the symbols, colors, foods, or activities associated with the holiday?
The colors are red and yellow for the flag, the food such as chancho hornado, cuy, papas locas etc.
How do you feel about the holidays? Do you enjoy it or not? Because?
I feel very happy and I enjoyed it a lot since I had never been to Cuenca before.
How is the holiday similar to or different from other holidays you know of?
They are very similar because of the clothes they wear and the dances they do.
