Assignment Guidelines – Business Economics and Accounting
Individual Assignment
The assignment comprises of two components (considering as two assignments). Part A
pertaining to Accounting and Part B pertaining to Economics.
Assignment should be prepared and submitted as ONE FILE (including both Parts in the same
document)
Part A
Financial Statement Analysis
Content Should include the following:
Download latest annual report of any “Public Limited Company”. (This can be downloaded
from Colombo Stock Exchange Website)
1. Conduct Ratio Analysis for the selected company.
2. You should include one ratio each from all five categories of Ratio Analysis being
discussed. Ratios can be chosen at your discretion based on the availability of the data on
the annual reports.
3. You are required to include the formula and show the workings.
4. Underneath the calculation you should write the interpretation of every ratio calculated.
If the current “Market Price per Share” is not available in the annual report, include a note and
take the share price from the CSE website.
Report Format for Part A

Part B
As for the Business economics, you are required to perform a trend analysis on inflation and
unemployment in the Sri Lankan context based on the data pertaining to last five years. Data can
be obtained from the annual reports Central Bank of Sri Lanka. Analysis should be followed by
appropriate interpretation as well.
Select one developed country and a developing country (from South Asian Region) and do the
comparison with Sri Lanka.

Cover page should clearly indicate the Name, Registration Number and the Stream.
Font – Times New Roman
Font size – 12
Margins – 1” each side
Submission Format – Soft Copy (PDF). upload to LMS. Assignment Link will be created on
LMS.
Deadline
15th September 2023
Late submissions will not be encouraged, and marks will be reduced.
