WHAT IS MATHEMATICS?



Define as the study of the relationship among numbers, quantities, and shape.
It enhances our critical thinking skills, reasoning, spatial thinking and creativity.
Helps as organize patterns and regularities in the world.
PATTERN AND NUMBERS IN NATURE AND THE WORLD

SYMMETRY PATTERN
- a design or pattern that is identical on both halves when folded.
- Symmetrical patterns can have multiple lines of symmetry.
- A line of symmetry can be vertical, diagonal or horizontal.
- It is also called the mirror line or axis of symmetry.

SPIRAL PATTERN
- is a curve which emanates from a point, moving farther away as it revolves around the point.
- It is a subtype of whorled patterns, a broad group that also includes concentric objects.

FRACTALS PATTERN
- whenever you observe a series of patterns repeating over and over again, at many different
scales, and where any small part resembles the whole, that’s a fractal.

TESSELLATIONS PATTERN
- is created when a shape is repeated over and over again covering a plane without any gaps
or overlaps.
- Another word for a tessellation is a tiling.
THE FIBONACCI SEQUENCE



Is discovered by an Italian mathematician named LEONARDO PISANO BOGOLLO.
His nickname was “Fibonacci” which roughly means “Son of Bonacci”
November 23 is the Fibonacci Day. “. The first four non-zero digit is 1, 1, 2, 3
Ex: 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, 144, 233, 377, 610, . . .

Each number in the sequence is the sum of the two numbers which precede it.
THE GOLDEN RATIO
Denoted by phi (Φ)which approaches a value of 1.618034…
THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN FIBONACCI SEQUENCE AND GOLDEN RATIO
It is said that the ratio of any two successive Fibonacci numbers is very close to the golden ratio referred
to and represented as phi. Which is a said earlier approximately equal to 1.618034….

You can the bigger the pair of the Fibonacci numbers consider, the closer the approximation.
And you may also ask if there is a chance that the ratio of two successive Fibonacci numbers will be equal
to the golden ratio the answer is… NO it will just always be close to the golden ratio but never equal
