Sameer Devakota Assignment-1 I like to visualize something when I learn anything new. I like diagrams, graphs and presentations. A presentation made with interesting pictures attracts me very well. Mostly I learn to relate the things that are taught in the class to natural and daily happenings. I also like talking about what I learnt during the day with study buddy or even to my wife who happens to have a good grasp of science. I like to write things multiple times to memorize if needed. I also check for interesting videos or presentations available and worked out examples. Whenever I read a book or a lecture slide first I check the contents that I would be learning, I then look for chapter summary to get a broad idea about what is being taught on the day. Then after taking down the important aspects from the summary and conclusion, I do a thorough study of the whole chapter. Whenever there are diagrams and calculations, I try to focus on them and try to find out what those diagrams are there and where they are discussed in the actual chapter. After I am done with a thorough study once, I close the book and begin writing the most important concepts in my workbook. Once I write that I compare what I wrote with the information in the book and look for any important missed information. The last part of my learning is always taking the quiz or working out the calculations and examples in the coursebook. If there are past test samples or exam samples, I also try to work on them. I don’t first look at the solution in the book but first work on my own and check at the end. If I find I made mistakes in working out the quizzes or exams, I try redoing the quiz one or two more time to build my confidence.
