Police Organizations in the Philippines are going along with modernization in the technology world. One of the common examples is the replacement of typewriters with computers. According to an article released by the US Dept of Justice in 1979, computers have the potential to aid in criminal justice activities through rapid communication of accurate and complete information. Computers help officers a lot in various ways can utilize the computer to retain information, examine specific materials found at crime scenes, and assist in the collection of information about perpetrators and victims. Some authorities have begun to invest in computerized fingerprint identification systems and a nationwide mugshot program for wanted fugitives. On July 22, 2022, the Manila Bulletin published on their website the computer sets that they obtained in donation. Computers have a high specification that can help police officers enhance their productivity in their work. But how capable are the police officers of this type of police modernization? Because of this new trend in their organization some of them are struggling to keep up. PNP currently has more than 200,000 personnel serving the people and many of them use computers in their daily work. In connection, most of the PNP nowadays are composed of Criminology graduates because it was aligned to their course and most of them use it as a stepping stone in joining the law enforcement career. Criminal Jurisprudence and Procedure, Law Enforcement Administration, Correctional Administration, Criminalistics, Criminal Sociology, Ethics, and Human Relations are the subjects in the field of Criminology. In regards with this, PNP personnel receive backlash on their computer skills because they are graduates of criminology. It leads to the misconception of “all graduates of Criminology are Police Officers”. The question here is whether all the officers graduated from criminology-related courses. This study wants to know how many criminologists and non-criminologists graduates work in PNP and if they are criminology graduates it is better to put a subject that is related to computer or related skills. Skills that can help them in the future if they want joined other agencies not only in PNP
