The video I watched was titled “How to Jump Start A Car | The Art of Manliness” by Art of Manliness
YouTube channel. In my opinion, this video is very effective because it is straight to the point and clearly
displays what needs to be done in chronological order. What I think could be improved in the video is
visual text, everything in the video is being said by the narrator and I could see how some people might
get confused on what to do. Some text indicating which is the positive and negative terminals might
help some people who require more stimulation visually. What I would try to emulate is the narrator’s
ability to be direct and concise without coming off as inhuman. The video has a very nonchalant
approach that keeps the audience’s guard down. They also start the video with a bit of humor which
also extremely effective with helping the audience relax as some people watching the video are most
likely stressed out since their car is not working. Which brings me to the next thing I noticed, he knows
his audience. Most people who are watching a how-to video on how to jump start their car, are
probably extremely stressed out. Nothing is worse than getting ready to go somewhere with everything
planned out or coming back from a long day at work, and your car does not start. It is a very unpleasant
situation. A little humor that does not take away from the video is very effective to help the audience.
That is something that I will keep in mind for my own video.
