During last summer I found a part time job in large company. I wanted a kind of job that
would be related to my newly acquired skills from school. I was lucky and I started to do an
administrative worker in Continental Matador Rubber in Púchov. I do was interested in production
programme and organisation of workplace. I could have a look at plant. It was so impressive for me
and distributing materials for various workplaces became my favourite everyday adventure.
The beginning of rubber production in Matador started in 1925. Rubber tires from Matador
were mounted to Czechoslovak automakers - Tatra, Škoda, Aro and others. Production in Matador in
Púchov began in 1950. In 1988 the first production of truck tires was launched under the name of the
company Continental Matador. In 2009 Continental became an owner of whole Matador. Up to this
year it was 2 different companies.
Continental-Caoutchouc-und Gutta-Percha Compagnie was founded in 1871 in Hannover. A
horse standing on back legs became its trademark. Production of tires for cars, bicycles, but also seals
for airships and planes started. The company Continental Matador Rubber is a producer of rubber
tires. It is the 4th biggest producer of tires in the world. The company headquarters is settled in
Hannover, Germany. Continental Matador Rubber Púchov is the largest truck and bus tire factory in
Europe.
The number of employees of the company Continental Matador Rubber Púchov is more than
4 000. But total number of employees of the parent company Continental is around 235 000.
The company Continental Matador Rubber Púchov is headed by Ing. Igor Valko. The chief
commercial officer of the company is represented by Ing. Juraj Madejski and chief finance officer is
Ing. Martin Markovič. Authorized representative of the company is Anton Vatala. A person for public
relations is Katarína Pavlisová.
The organization structure is divided into several parts. The chairman of the company is
president, followed by chief executive officer. Furthermore, the company is divided into specialized
sections and divisions. To specialized sections belong energy, environmental protection, and
coordination of systems. Divisions include rubber research institute, production of tires, production
of machines and forms, production of conveyor belts.
I am glad I could have such an experience and to gain a little bit of professional skills. I hope I
will be the part of that team next year too, even for a while.
