Philosophy Assignment
This assignment is to have you think about who you are and what culture you want to create for
your sports program, business, department, or activity/event. Your philosophy is personal and
unique to you, and your experiences, beliefs, and values should be reflected. Spend some quality
time thinking about what is most important to you and how you will effectively instill your
philosophy into your business, program, etc. to create the culture that you desire.
(1 pt) Develop a list of 10 beliefs, values, or ideals which will serve as the
foundation for your philosophy. Quotes can also be used (i.e. Team Unity)
1.
We each have our own definitions or meanings that are based on our background
and preferences. Define what the belief, statement, value, or ideal means to
you.
2.
(1 pt) Write a statement for each belief, statement, value, or ideal in the
context of your career (coaching, teaching, management, etc.)
3.
(3 pts) Now that we have our foundation of how we view sports, the culture we
want to create and defined each of them, write 3 methods you would employ to
make it happen (action steps).
