APALA SUB-COUNTY ALEBTONG DISTRICT LOCAL GOVERNMENT P.O BOX 316 LIRA 22/06/2023 RE: REPORT ON SENSTISATION MOBILIZERS ON YELLOW FEVER MASS CAMPAIGN IN APALA SUB COUNTY Introduction The Sensitization activity was done on 13th June, 2023 in Apala sub county head quarter, the teams comprised of three teams for 36 villages who includes two VHTs and one local council one per village making a total of 108 mobilisers in a sub county. Objectives Planning of yellow fever campaign To effectively mobilize communities in all villages for yellow fever vaccination To ensure 95% of eligible population aged 9mth-60yrs are mobilized and vaccinated against yellow fever. To communicate and engage communities on risk of yellow fever, how to report and how to reduce risk To strengthen surveillance for yellow fever. Methodology Open discussion Temporary and mobile posts were created with list of participant’s Teams were being planned to cover schools, at permanent health facilities like Obim hc2, churches, markets area and any other suitable sites. Achievement We managed to train all the expected participants ready to mobilize for mass campaign Challenges Little payment of mobilisers was a concern raised to be addressed next time STP forms was yet challenge by many since it was the first time being handle in a campaign Recommendation Continuous sensitization of the community on the benefit of yellow fever vaccination is highly needed by various stakeholders i.e. health workers, political leaders, religious leaders and cultural leaders. STP forms be advanced into apps where its installed in smart phones to make work simpler Prompt payment should be done next time in order to encourage the participants. BUA JASPER SUB COUNTY SUPERVISOR APALA SUB COUNTY OBIM HEALTH CENTRE II APALA SUB-COUNTY ALEBTONG DISTRICT LOCAL GOVERNMENT P.O BOX 316 LIRA 7th /02/2022 RE: REPORT ON COVID 19 VACCINATION ROUND TWO IN THE CATCHMENT POPULATION OF OBIM HEALTH CENTRE II APALA SUB-COUNTY Introduction The activity was done from January, 5th to 10th 2022 by one team comprising of three health workers and ten mobilizers giving a total of 13 participants to cover the all parish of Obim and Olailongo parish, Apala sub-county. Objectives To vaccinate all the eligible people who were vaccinated in first round and those who missed out. To reduce the risk of COVID 19 transmission through vaccination. Methodology Door to door mobilization were done in each parish by mobilizers that is from homes, market, churches, and funeral places among others. Achievement A total of 258 people was vaccinated during the community outreach vaccinations in the two parishes of obim and olailongo. Challenges Religious differences interfered with the activity since other people believe in their religion which does not allow them get vaccinated Other feared the antigen since it was new. Negative communication (myth) on COVID 19 vaccines by different people on social media affected the activity to a greater extend. Poor mobilization since mobilizers (VHTs) or (LC1) were left out and few were pick to help in the mobilization process making it very had to mobilized for the all villages within the catchment population. Mobilizers complained on little payment given to them as compared to the one of health workers. Recommendation Continuous sensitization of the community on the benefit of COVID 19 vaccination is highly needed by various stakeholders i.e. health workers, political leaders, religious leaders and cultural leaders. Bua Jasper In-charge Obim Health Center II APALA SUB-COUNTY ALEBTONG DISTRICT LOCAL GOVERNMENT P.O BOX 316 LIRA 07/03/2023 RE: REPORT FOR THE DISTRICT SUPERVISION ON INTEGRATED CHILDS HEALTH DAYS PLUS -MR ROUND TWO INTENSIFIED IMMUNISATION CAMPAIGN FOR APALA SUB COUNTY Introduction The activity was conducted for six days from 19th to 24th October 2022 by the district facilitator (district supervisor) to 37 teams in 5 parishes in Apala SubCounty. Each team consisted of two health worker, one recorder then two mobilizers for that particular post making a total of five participants per post. The activities were conducted 3days in schools and 3days at the community. Objectives To vaccinate all the eligible children under 5 years with vaccines MR2 at 18 months. To provide ICHDS services which includes yellow fever vaccination at 9 months, HPV vaccinations for girls in schools &out of schools etc To guide all health workers to do daily routine immunization To vaccinate all children at 9 months to 59 months with MR2 (missed opportunities) To reduce the risk of outbreak in the community through vaccination. To increase advocacy communities and social services Methodology Door to door mobilization were done in each village by its mobilizers that is from schools, homes, market, churches, outreach post and funeral places among others. Achievement We manage to vaccinate beyond the target population of 1312 up to about 1557 eligible children under five years giving a total coverage of 121% of the total eligibility, therefore ended up with a great positive achievement. Challenges Network problem to send ODK and also limited data for Mbs Delayed release of funds for the participants during the campaign Poor mobilization since mobilizers (VHTs) or (LC1) did not have proper means of transport. Recommendation Continuous sensitization of the community on the benefit of immunization of children under five years is highly needed by various stakeholders i.e. health workers, political leaders, religious leaders and cultural leaders. Prompt payment should be done next time in order to encourage and also motivate the participants vigor’s to work effectively. Provision of bicycle to all VHTs and LCs for easy mobilization.
