I will say exercise 2 is the hardest part in all the questions, I still confused about the prescriptive and descriptive. And however, I still have my Chinese accent with me which means when I read these words I lean to American pronunciation. b) Well accent is not easy to change, but I do notice the word we use is different. I am having a hard time to find myself the accurate word to represent my meaning and my local friends can easily say it. And the difference between my parents is not big, however the difference between me and my grandparents are huge the tone and accent and speed of speaking are all different. Example 1 when we say word ear. They make the word pronunciation long and end with a sound of ar but I don’t. Example 2, they do stress on vowel. Especially speak the word me. Example 3, for word start with sh, ch, they tend to pronounce as s and c which is totally different. Exercise 3 a) I use “the” a lot. And since it is “a person” I will use their too, since hard to say it is male or female. b) Well, is hard to tell if Alex is a he or she. From the textbook I will also use the word their. c) I will clearly say what is special, so I will say the special meal.
