Roundels may also utilise a national symbol such as Australia utilising the Kangaroo or the Luftwaffe using the Balkenkreuz. RAAF/RAN/AA National markings The ADF roundel consists two parts: 1. 2. An Air Force Blue (AFB) ring. A red kangaroo inside of the AFB ring. Some countries also have Low Visibility roundels and the RAAF Low-Vis roundel is the same as the standard roundel but is gray. The RAN and the AA <<Aid 1>> Lesson Plan Format use either the roundel or a red/black kangaroo. These markings always have the kangaroo's nose pointed towards the front of the aircraft. RNZAF/RNZN National Markings The RNZAF and RNZN use a roundel that is similar to Australia’s but contains a red kiwi in place of the kangaroo. The RNZAF/RNZN also uses a gray Low-Vis roundel. The beak of the kiwi always faces the nose of the aircraft. USAF/USN/USMC/US Army National markings The US Military uses a universal marking across all 4 services. This roundel consists of: 1. 2. A white star in an AFB circle. 3. A horizontal red line going through each box. Two rectangular boxes outlined in AFB on each side of the circle and star.
