First slide: Ladies and gentlemen, the facts that I am going to present today about suicide are just a few reasons why our group is on the negative side regarding this issue. But first, what is suicide? Suicide is the act or an instance of taking one’s own life voluntarily and intentionally. Hindi naman lingid sa kaalaman ng iba na kapag sinabing suicide, it involves loss or death at kapag narinig natin yung salitang suicide, hindi naman lahat ganun ka komportable. The problem in our society today is that most people use suicide as an escape from this wrecked world. There are people who use suicide to end their chronic pain and illness which is something immoral and unacceptable. Also, there are people who attempt suicide simply because they don’t know how to get help. Second slide: According to statistics, suicide is the third leading cause of death among teenagers and there are 700 00 people die due to suicide every year. Imagine the number of deaths each year when we as members of the community have a role to play to save lives, create a healthy and strong individual, and prevent suicide. This includes World Suicide Prevention Day and other government and non-government programs to raise awareness, reduce the stigma around suicide and encourage well-informed action. Third Slide: MAIN ARGUMENT Suicide causes trauma. The person who died because of suicide can be a selfish decision especially if they leave their families and friends with prolonged grief, shock, anger, guilt, symptoms of depression or anxiety, and even thoughts of suicide themselves. Hindi biro ang desisyong mag suicide para makatakas sa problema at magulong mundo, pero hindi rin biro ang trauma na maaaring maidulot nito sa pamilya at mga kaibigang maaaring maiwanan. That even our mental health professionals who lose their patients due to suicide may experience grief, anger, guilt, shock, self-doubt, and fear of blame. Fourth Slide: MAIN ARGUMENT Exposure to suicide has long-term effects. A person who attempted suicide once is more likely to have increased suicidal thoughts over time, when not treated immediately. As well as people who may have encountered suicidal attempts or have a loved one who died because of suicide, are more likely to have a trauma triggering their selves to commit suicide as well. Fifth Slide: MAIN ARGUMENT In Immanuel Kant’s side, the practice of suicide is unethical, and immoral, and a violation of the humanity, which is an objective end. Life itself is an end to achieve but the person who treats life as a means to achieve happiness gets only melancholy out of it.
