YOUR WEEKLY DANCE JOURNAL Your dance journal is a personal assignment because it is an extension of who you are. It should be a reflection of your beliefs, values, goals, fears, joys, etc. We all enter the dance studio with our own personal experiences and perceptions of dance and ourselves. The journal is a weekly account of your dance experiences. Your entries should be honest and straightforward, but please do not just reiterate what we did in class that week. Please date each entry. The journal is to be turned in every Friday and will be returned to you every Monday. THE JOURNAL SHOULD INCLUDE: ● ● ● ● ● ● ● Thoughts that occur to you at any time about dance Your positive thoughts and reactions to the dance class Your thoughts about movement and how your body moves Your ideas about choreography, music, costumes,lighting, etc. Thoughts on performance experiences:yours, others, live, or televised Your favorite and least favorite assignments and explain why Newspaper or magazine articles about dancers,choreographers, dance companies, composers, etc.(include a short explanation) ● Dance photographs, pictures and dance articles THE JOURNAL MAY INCLUDE: ● Photographs of you and/or your friends dancing(accompanied with caption and explanation) ● Drawings, poetry, short stories, etc. ● Pressed flowers, old programs, ticket stubs, etc.( with explanation) ● Outside activities in dance; performances, workshops, classes, etc. ● Interviews with dancers, choreographers, directors, composers
