A discussion of the idea of a value proposition and why it is at the core of the elevator pitch. c. An anatomy of an elevator pitch. 3. MARKET RESEARCH: → a. A discussion of the importance of market research entering a new market, staying ahead of the game, and understanding what works. b. Some design principles (foreshadowing of customer research, which comes later). c. Sources, including detail on why the best market research is in industries where nobody used an entrepreneurial lens to tackle problems. SWOT a step-by-step guide to both strengths and weaknesses (which are more short-term measures) and opportunities or threats (which determine long term success). 5. CUSTOMER RESEARCH: a. Purpose of customer research. Two-fold: i. This drives innovation by allowing firms to identify problems. ii. Customer research is at the core of good design, since products should be produced iteratively. b. Pivot → how to respond to customer research. 6. BUSINESS PLAN: a. How does one go about about starting a business? i. Lean-startup model: 1. Modeling it (applies to all startup models generally, but a core focus on MVP) 2. Developing a timeline unique to a lean-startup ii. Agile operating model integration of design principles → → b. Venture financing → → 4 stages c. Business pitch SBA specific tips about how to structure a pitch, with a focus on presentation and speaking stills. 7. CAREER TIPS: a.
