Andersen Luna Gainey School of Business, Spring Arbor University MGT411: Project Management Stephen W. Sickels, MS, MDiv, ThM 08/27/2023 What I Learned: In my study of project management this week, I gained insights into the significance of information in the realm of project supply chain management. The content highlights how accurate and accessible information plays a pivotal role in decision-making across various functions and organizations. As stated, "Information is a key ingredient not just at each stage of the project supply chain but also within each phase of supply chain decision making" (Kloppenborg, Anantatmula, Wells, 2019, p. 449). Understanding the characteristics of useful information, such as accuracy, timeliness, and relevance, is vital for effective project management. Why it is Important: The knowledge acquired about the importance of information resonates deeply as it underlines the ability to enhance project supply chain efficiency and responsiveness. As emphasized, "Information sharing in many cases can allow the project supply chain to shorten the delivery time and, at the same time, offer better-quality products or services to meet the dynamic demand of a project" (Kloppenborg, Anantatmula, Wells, 2019, p. 449). This recognition underscores the pivotal role of information in achieving operational excellence and meeting customer demands in a rapidly changing environment. Application of Learning: Applying the insights gained, I plan to implement a robust information management system within project supply chains. This involves leveraging information technology (IT) to gather, analyze, and execute procurement actions based on accurate data. By incorporating ITbased information management, I aim to ensure sound decision-making at every stage of the project supply chain. As mentioned, "IT-based information management is crucial to the performance of project supply chains simply because it provides the basis of decision making, which has profound impacts for every aspect of project management" (Kloppenborg, Anantatmula, Wells, 2019,p. 449). Faith and Learning: From a Christian perspective, this learning journey reminds me of Proverbs 2:6, "For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding." As I delve into project management, I recognize that ethical characteristics are integral to effective leadership. Incorporating honesty, accuracy, and transparency in information sharing aligns with the values upheld by Christian teachings. This integration of ethical principles into my decision-making reflects the commitment to stewardship and integrity, essential qualities for guiding project teams and ensuring righteous leadership in the field of project management.
