
Algebra: Transposition and Simplification
Example 1 Addition/Subtraction : x + 10 = 15
1.
Right hand side is 15 which is a constant number
2.
Left hand side has a constant 10 and a variable x
3.
We move/place/transpose constants to the one side and variables to the other
4.
When we move some constant or variable from right to left/left to side it changes its sign as
shown below
Solution:
x + 10 = 15
Step 1: Mention Constants and Variables
x= Variable and Constants= 10 and 15
Step 2: Move constant 10 to the left side. As we move 10 it will change sign from + to - . Subtract
15 and 10. you will get value of x
x = 15-10
x = 5 Answer
