Lesson 7 Upon completion of the assessments, i realised my skills confidence correlated to my career interests. I have a dire interest to be enterprising which is why i chose a business and management related course to study. I have good confidence in my enterprising skills such as reviewing business information like financial sheets, budgeting, market share, investments and more. It interests me to use my leadership, people management and organisational skills to good use in the Human Resources field. I plan to study and work in that field as it supports my interest and skills. All in all, I have enterprising, social and conventional skills. I have part-taken in established social service centres to gain skills and interests in caring for the welfare of people. Also, since a young age, i have always been conventional trying keep my surroundings organised, neat and functional. Therefore, the skills i am most confident at relates well in my career choice to be a HR. (approximately 100-120 words). Lesson 8 My skills, interests in human resources as well as the labour market influenced my career choice. To elaborate, being in the human resource field organisation skills, people management skills and problem solving skills is very important. Those are the skills that I have inculcated over the years moreover, I enjoy the skills that I have learnt and practice it everyday. For example, RP helps me a lot through problem based learning and gives me more experience working with diverse people in a team. These are all valuable in the HR field. My interests played a part as well, for example, my interest and passion for people welfare and business interested me to study this diploma. I would like to work in a real business environment to learn business management skills. Lastly, the labour market. Singapore is a country that has no natural resources and rely greatly on human resources. I felt my career choice was a smart choice as it has a bright undying future for the field. I also understood that Human Resources is a broad field and has many aspects to dive in. These gives me better opportunities to find my choice of interest in the skill. © 2020 RP/SMC/G961/CA2 Page 5 Prompting Question: Corresponding Lesson c) Based on your SWOT analysis, identify and explain TWO (2) methods to overcome your weaknesses that may hinder your future employability (approximately 100-120 words). Lesson 9 There are 2 major weaknesses that I have and should be managed in order to be successful in my career. Firstly, I am sometimes late because of my poor time management skills I either underestimate or overestimate the time. How I can improve my time management skills is to better plan out my schedule. By giving myself grace period to do whatever is necessary and be on time. I will start with coming to school either earlier or on time particularly to estimate the time properly. Secondly, I am a short and hot tempered person if things I pictured in my mind does not go as planned. I have an anger issue that should be controlled especially when my plans are to work in a office environment with a diverse group of people and have many problems at hand. Patience is key. I would try to calm myself down with positive self-talk and by taking big breathes. Also, learn some better ways to cope with anger for example, think before I speak, Once calm, express my concerns, get some exercise, take a timeout and identify possible solutions. © 2020 RP/SMC/G961/CA2 Page 6 Prompting Question: Corresponding Lesson d) Using your career timeline (mid-term), identify TWO (2) goals you have. Explain how these will be useful for achieving your long-term education and career plans. (approximately 100-120 words). Lesson 10 In the mid-term(2-3years), my goals are to graduate from my diploma with at least 3.5gpa and above and build a good portfolio by taking up given opportunities in school. So that in the long-run I can get into a Singapore University to complete my degree in human resource management and join the workforce. For me to do that, I need to ace my modules and do well in my internship to get even hired in the company. I have joined entrepreneurship and HR cca in my school to provide me the opportunities to learn and explore. I desire to build a good portfolio in the future by making full use of my opportunities. Also, utilize my given opportunity to study in RP by doing well for my diploma. I understand that qualifications are not only important but experience is needed to as such I want to join the workforce and learn more about the business world. Ultimately, I want to have a strong base first by completing the next 2-3 years of my time in RP successful enough to be considered for my desired degree and job in the future. Henceforth, I will work towards my specific 2 goals which is to get a GPA 3.5 and above and build an impressive portfolio showcasing my attained skills and knowledge in HR. © 2020 RP/SMC/G961/CA2 Page 7 Prompting Question: Corresponding Lesson e) Based on your journey in this module, discuss how ready you are for the world of work (in the face of technological change, learning evolution, and talent mobility) (approximately 80-100 words). Lesson 11 I am not 100% ready to enter the workforce. I still need to work on strengthening my knowledge(diploma, degree ,masters), skills( relevant to HR) and values. In the current situation, the economy is not doing well due to covid19, many people are being let off. In such situation, the companies would want to keep the most valuable employees to run the company hence I have to stand out among the rest. Now I am at the beginning stage, I want to fully make use of my opportunities in RP and build my knowledge, skills and values. Such as doing well in my modules, attaining a good GPA, join CCAs that help me gain skills and values needed for HR. In the future, I will continue growing in these 3 areas. I want to be a wellversed employee that specialises in human resources. I am not fully ready but taking the first step towards it by studying the relevant diploma. Moreover, this module on exploring the future of work has helped me realise where I am now, where I want to be and what I should do to achieve my future goals. I am certainly clear of my career path and what I should do to achieve my goals. Henceforth, I will continue working smart and hard towards my career path. - End of Paper - © 2020 RP/SMC/G961/CA2 Page 8
