EMIRATES PILOTS Joining Medical Requirements Emirates Pilots are required to undertake a full and extensive medical in order to be issued with a Medical Certificate by the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) in Dubai. The medical will be conducted by an aviation doctor at the Emirates company clinic on joining and is a pre-requisite for employment within the Emirates Group. The following information will assist you in ensuring that you do not have any condition that may prevent you from obtaining the medical certificate. Note: Emirates will not reimburse the cost of any medical tests, vaccinations, dental checks or treatment that may be required to satisfy these standards. All laboratory and radiology reports must be uploaded on candidate portal. Original test results & reports must be brought with you when you travel to Dubai. APPENDIX TITLE ACTION REQUIRED -MEDICAL 1 Medical standards required for Emirates pilots You should discuss the contents of this section with your family doctor if you have any condition that may prevent you from meeting the minimum requirements. 2 Medical history, tests Part A should be completed by you and you will be required to undertake the tests listed in Part B. Upload the completed document on candidate portal. 2 Height, weight and Body Mass Index (BMI) You will need to submit a recent (within the last month) height and weight to ensure that you fall within the minimum and maximum height, weight and BMI restrictions. 2 HIV/AIDS and Syphilis Test On arrival in Dubai this blood tests will be repeated by the local authorities. A residence visa will not be issued for those testing positive for HIV or untreated Syphilis 2 Chest X-Ray A residence visa will not be issued to those with active tuberculosis. Once treatment is complete a visa will be issued on a case by case basis. 2 Pap or Cervical Smear Test – FEMALES ONLY A Report of a cervical smear taken within the past 3 years is required if you have ever been sexually active. VACCINATIONS 4 Vaccination Certificate This should be completed by your family doctor or nurse. If these vaccinations are incomplete, the cost of having these vaccinations when you join the company will be deducted from your salary. DENTAL 5 Expected Standards for Dental Health You should read through this information and ensure that you make your dentist aware of it. 5 Certificate of Dental Health This should be completed by your dentist and any outstanding work should be completed prior to commencement of employment.
