MASONIC THOUGHTS Many things have been written about Freemasonry in countless books and in papers to be delivered to Masonic research associations, but how many of us know that there is wealth of beautiful material out there about Freemasonry, such as quotations or poems. Some of the world’s greatest men of letters who were Freemasons themselves, have written some wonderful words. Let’s take Rudyard Kipling and Robbie Burns as just two examples, yet equally some less well-known Masons have embodied the teachings and philosophy of Freemasonry in their writing and we will take a look at these too during the coming months. A MASON A Mason’s hand is a hand that helps That lifts the fallen one, That comes, in need, with a kindly deed To him whose strength is gone A Mason’s heart is a heart that loves The best that’s good and true; He stands the friend, his best to lend Under his banner blue A Mason’s eye is an eye that smiles And his cheering voice; He spreads the light, dispels the night And makes the world rejoice. Over the earth in stranger lands Where distant peoples dwell, The eye, the grip, the life, the lip, Of love unchanging tell Bro Carl W Mason Faith, Hope and Charity The three greatest forces are FAITH, which is the only true WISDOM And the very foundation of all government; HOPE, which is STRENGTH and ensures success; and CHARITY, which is BEAUTY, and alone makes animated, united effort possible. These forces are within reach of all men; and an association of men, actuated By them, ought to exercise an immense power in the world. If Masonry does not, it is because she has ceased to posses them. Bro. Albert Pike
