REPORT 12i Third Term 2022-2023 Prepared: July 18, 2023 Student Name: Pieter Reitsma Grade: 12 Pre-DP Mentor: Remco Middelveld Tuesday, 18th July 2023 Dear student (and parents / guardians), We are pleased to present you with your final report of school year 2022-2023. The report starts with a reflection from you in which you look back on the past term, evaluating your own learning and progress. Your mentor also provides a comment about your overall progress. The grades you see in this report reflect your current level of academic performance as assessed by your subject teachers. These grades are not predicted, final grades for the Diploma Programme. Performance for most subjects is scored on a scale of 1-7, based on definitions outlined in the DENISE Assessment Policy. Theory of Knowledge is assessed with a letter grade of A to E. In addition, the subject teachers provide comments on your progress this term. The report shows levels for Approaches To Learning (ATL): collaboration, academic integrity and selfmanagement. Physical Education (PE) is considered part of CAS (Creativity, Activity, and Service). Definitions of the assessment indicators are included at the end of the report. We encourage you to discuss your report at home. Pay close attention to the comments, the academic grades and the ATLs. Which didn't make it very fun. I have learned that I shouldn't try my hardest just to please others, instead of taking the hardest subjects to make my family proud, I should just be nice to myself and tone it down a level. I'm extremely nervous about my rapport card, as my grades have been extremely fluctuating, I'd like to say that this is most likely because of my lack of experience in not only some specific subjects but school in general. As I've been moving around a lot for the last 5 years, so I never really had the chance to settle down and focus. This might just be me making an excuse as I don't want to face the fact that I am not capable of some subjects, but it is enough to distract me from this thought. I will be getting my rapport card in about a week, I hope that day will be good rather than bad, I'm quite confident in History, English, Chemistry, Physics, Geography, and Dutch. But maths still remains an issue, I believe that I have the potential to do it at a higher level, I just struggle with focusing on the tests which leads to bad scores. At this point there is nothing really that could help me, the consequence of me not getting Maths HL is an extra 40,000 euros in tuition, which sucks, but it is what it is. Overall, it was a solid year, I managed to learn a lot about myself, for example, I like sciences. I also managed to make new friends, which I struggled with a year ago. Remco Middelveld Mentor It was a pleasure to accompany you on this group 12i journey. Based on your report card #3 and your teachers' feedback we can share with you that you are promoted to IB-DP1/ group 13i with the subject package of your choice. Enjoy this IB learning path in the coming years. Comments: You completed this school year with positive participation and you weren’t afraid to take on most of the challenges. You’ve shown you can improve your skills when you put your mind to it and reaching a goal feels good, try to remember that feeling for later! Your reading skills are very good, your writing skills have improved, especially in the last two periods, and you collaborate very well with others. Your engagement with speaking assignments has also resulted in good grades. To improve, keep up your approach to applying feedback you receive on your assignments, as this has resulted in improved grades. I would also recommend participating more during the lessons as this will help your understanding of the material. Teacher advice: SL. Geography SL Term Grade Didi van Dijk, Trine Lindström 5 Approaches to Learning Collaboration OT Academic Integrity OT Self-management OT Comments: You showed good knowledge and understanding of resource consumption. You participated in fieldwork and did well in your mini IA. You found trends in the data and linked back the data to the hypotheses. You can improve on linking back the results to the research question and analysing the desciprtive techniques. In SL you should be ok but you have to practice far more then you are doing now. You have to really keep practicing the calculation questions, you are making a lot of errors in them on the test. This tells me you havent done enough practice at home and did not fully understood how to do them properly. Mathematics Term Grade Christina Papoula, Verity Callaghan 4 Approaches to Learning Collaboration OT Academic Integrity OT Self-management AN Comments: You are a good mathematician who has made pleasing progress this year. You must try to work on your organisation skills as well as your routine, and then I believe you could reach your full potential in SL mathematics next year.
