Module 6 reflection I like to be in a forest. Maybe not the most primitive and serene ones like Amazon or national parks like the Banff in Alberta, but I particularly like to hike in the mountain trails. Just as the resources mentioned and the activities we have practiced for weeks, it is only when I am in the forests will I be able to feel the energy and power of breathing. It is not really easy to describe how the fresh air is like because it’s too abstract, but I really agree what the resources say that when doing forest bathing, engage all our senses. This is really true. When walking on the trail, small streams of water flowing next to me alongside, and the shadows changing with the sun’s mood, every breath seems so powerful. Deep breathes makes my ears open to the sounds of water droplets gathering into magnificent waterfalls, my nose open to the unique smell of humid soil and plants, and my skin gets more sensitive to the air flying through my cheeks to my arms and legs. Once I feel every instant of the changes of water, bird chirps, and the sunlight, I get to calm myself down and let go of the pressure brought and unwillingly carried from the urban area. I start to enjoy where I am, where I can be after hours of walk, and what the awe-inspiring views I can appreciate along my forest bathing journey. Packages of not-yet-done tasks can be temporarily put down, and I can see myself clearer. Diving into the inner mind and listen to what my inner mind wants to tell have always bring me inspiration toward life. Being in the forest is so amazing that I truly believe that taking forest bathes are actually the best doctors, and to some extent, forests are also the doctors of the gowned doctors. I like the forests in the Banff National park a lot, and I love the masterpieces in the Yellowstone National Park. They are some of the best places to go if one wants to enjoy the nature and seek a low-constructed area. One pity I haven’t yet tried is to do yoga in the forests, or saying it bigger, in the nature. Maybe I should try doing yoga in the nature next time I take forest bathes. There must be some unexpected mental and spiritual presents waiting for me to disclose.
