SHARK BIOMIMICRY Created by : Artiom , Seby , Stefan & Danil What is biomimiciry? Biomimiciry is studying natures solutions to particular problems ,and implimenting them via technology in our human needs BS How we copied sharks ? We as humans have been encountered with many challenges which we couldnt solve. Yet still our ingenious minds have found the solution from where we came from, mother nature. More precisly sharks BS Why is shark skin so important ? When you look at whales' skin you see lots of marine animals, barnacles, seaweed, bacteria, and even whale lice - which are parasites. But then you see a shark, it's the complete opposite, the shark is seemingly silky smooth and bacteria does not live on its skin, why is that? GD What are Dermal denticles? If we look under a microscope we see...this! These are dermal denticles: The microscopic tissue that makes up the whole skin surface of a shark. So in actuality, they aren't smooth they are rough, rigid, and can cut a person's finger if touched. GD WHAT ARE THESE DENTICLES? MADE OF ENAMEL TYPE TISSUE AND DENTINE ON THE OUTERMOST PORTION AND CONTAINING A CENTRAL CAVITY FILLED WITH PULP The discovery of Sharklet : The pattern was created outside of a lab. The solution to the issue of how to prevent algae from growing on the ship and submarine decks led to the discovery of Sharklet. Professor Dr. Anthony Brennan, visited Pearl Harbor in 2002 and was asked by a Office of Naval Research to create new anti - fouling technologies to reduce the usage of toxic anti - fouling chemicals and reduce the dock expenses. The Anthony Brennan after coming to idea to use an animal as example came to the idea that the shark was the only marine animal that wasn't fouling. He started to examine it and this is how he invented his brilliant technology. CS What is Sharklet ? Sharklet is the first technology in the world to purposely prevent bacterial growth. It takes design features from the shark's skin denticles' shape and texture. On the surface of the Sharklet, millions of microscopic parts are organized in a particular diamond pattern. Basically the pattern's structure prevents bacteria from sticking, spreading, and producing bacteria. There are also no toxic substances or chemicals in Sharklet. CS Company History Sharklet Technologies company was established in 2007 and employs the Sharklet micro-pattern to manage bacteria and other microbes. Sharklet Technologies, use technology to create medical devices and consumer applications utilizing the Sharklet pattern, which was first discovered by Dr. Anthony Brennan at the University of Florida and who is also the founder. This technology is unrelated to any development carried on by bacteria. High Quality Incorporation of Existing Goods You can incorporate the Sharklet micro pattern into your current product no matter of what materials it's made. Sharklet items are manufactured with micron-level precision by experts. Trusted technology It was designed in USA and is governed and protected by the many publications.
